Engels econoom, *23.6.1907 Swangge (Dorset). Meade was van 1947–57 hoogleraar aan de London School of Economics, daarna te Cambridge.
Hij is een gezaghebbend theoreticus op het gebied van de internationale handel, en verwierf zich m.n. grote bekendheid door zijn Balance of payments (1950) en Trade of welfare (1950).
