Zijn zoon, Donald M., 1729—1802, was chirurgijn-majoor bij het leger; hij gaf de geschriften zijns vaders in het licht, en verder: On the dropsy and its different species (1755), Account on the diseases in the British military hospitals in Germany from 1761 to 1763 (1764), On the mineral waters (2 din. 1770), On the means of preserving the health of soldiers and of conducting military hospitals (2 din. 1780), Medical and pharmaceutical chymistry and materia medica (4 din. 1788).
Alex. M., broeder van den vorige, 1732 —1817, volgde 1759 zijn vader op als hoogleeraar en schreef: Observations on the structure and functions óf the nervous system (1783), Structure and physiology of fishes, explained and compared with those of man and other animals (1785), Descriptions of all the pursue mucosae of the human body (1788).
Alex. M., zoon van den vorige, 1760—1830, was hoogl. te Edinburg in dezelfde vakken als zijn vader en schreef o. a.: The morbid anatomy of the human gullet, stomach and intestines (1811), Outlines of the anatomy of the human body in its sound slate (3 din. 1813), Observations on the different kinds of sin all-pox (1811), The anatomy of the pelvis on the male (1827), The morbid anatomy of the brain (1827).
