Haar filmdebuut kwam in 1934. Zij had rollen in films van belangrijke regisseurs als L. Visconti, J.Renoir, P.P.Pasolini. Filmrollen in La cieca di Sorrento (1934), Roma, citta aperta, Lamore(1948), Bellissima(1951), Le carrosse d’or(1953), The rosé tattoo (1955), Wild is the wind (1957), The fugitive kind (1959); Mamma Roma (1962), The secret of Santa Vittoria(1969).
