Theodor, Duits sanskrietist, *7.1.1822 Leschnitz, +4.4.1907 Bonn. In 1852 kreeg hij een aanstelling bij de Bodleian Library te Oxford, waar hij de Catalogus codicum sanscritorum postverdicorum (1864) samenstelde.
In 1862 werd hij hoogleraar te Edinburgh, in 1875 te Bonn. Van zijn hand verscheen ook de Catalogus catalogorum: an alphab. register of Sanskrit Works and authors (1891-1903).
