The Herv church in Sint Maartensbrug

betekenis & definitie

(Grote Sloot 233) is a large hall church with attached house and wooden gable turret. This church, built in 1696, was plastered around 1860 and equipped with a turret. There is a clock cast by Mammes and Claude Fremy (1683). The church was restored in 1985-'88.

The interior is covered by a wooden mirror vault and has two rows of ionic columns. The inventory includes a pulpit, a doophek and two surplus seats (all at the end of the 17th century). The church contains a gravestone for mainland Pieter van Rijswijck († 1725) and in the cemetery is a tombstone with a ship for W. 't Hart († 1830).
