The foremost fort at Kwadijk in Kwadijk
(Kwadijkerlaan 4) is a moated fortress of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, constructed to defend an acces (Zaandam-Hoorn railway line). The earthworks raised in 1889 was converted into a defensible earthwork in 1899. From the planned bomb-proof building in 1913 only the foundation was established (removed 1962).
