Bridges in Monnickendam
Characteristic are the narrow wooden drawbridges with a single awl at the Beestenmarkt, Nieuwe Zijds Burgwal-Herengracht and Schoolstraat-Weezenland and those with two pricks at the Haven-Brugstraat. The lift bridge over the tugboat (Singel-Bernardlaan, circa 1930) is equipped with four uprights with pulley housings for the steel lifting cables.
