Benzotrichloride of phenylchloroform - C6H5 CCI3, ontstaat bij voortgezet chloreeren van toluol, bij kookhitte; het is een bij 213° kokende, kleurlooze vloeistof, die door verhitting met water op 160° in benzoëzuur wordt omgezet.
