Trollope. Onder dezen naam vermelden wij: , Frances Trollope, eene verdienstelijke Engelsche schrijfster. Zij werd geboren te Heekfield omstreeks het jaar 1779, trad in 1809 in het huwelijk met den advocaat Thomas Anthony Trollope, die in 1835 overleed, en schreef na een driejarig verblijf in Amerika: „Domestic manners of the Americans (1832; 2de druk 1849)”, een boek, dat vooral in Amerika groot opzien baarde.
Voorts leverde zij: „The refugee in Amerika (1930, 3 dln)”, — „Belgium and Western Germany (1833)”, — „The adventures of Jonathan Jefferson Whitlaw (1836)”, — „Paris and the Parisians in 1835 (1836; 2de druk, 1843)”, — „The vicar of Wrexhill (1836; 2de 1836; 2de druk, I860)”, — „Vienna and the Austrians (1831)”, — en „Visit to Italy (1843, 2 dln)”. Zij overleed te Florence den 6den October 1863.
Thomas Adolphus Trollope, een zoon van de voorgaande en een verdienstelijk Engelsch romanschrijver. Anthony Trollope, een broeder van den voorgaande en desgelijks een vruchtbaar romanschrijver. Hij ontving zijne opleiding te Winchester en Harrow, zag zich bij de posterijen geplaatst en trad in 1847 op met den roman: „Macdermots of Ballycloran (2de druk, 1866)”.
