Wogmeer in Spierdijk

betekenis & definitie

This elongated hamlet west of Spierdijk is located in the Wogmeerpolder, which was drained in 1608-'11 by order of Jacob van Duivenvoorde, craftsman of Obdam and Hensbroek. Only the polder mill 'New Life' (Molenpad 6, circa 1608) remains from the original six polder mills. This octagonal inner barrel has a cane-covered trunk on a wood-covered base. Interesting farms are the farmhouse 'Greta Hoeve' (Wogmeer 88, circa 1870, converted in 1915) and the sandstone farmhouse Wogmeer 28 (1904).
