Velserbroek in Santpoort

betekenis & definitie

In this large new construction area in the eponymous polder to the east of Santpoort there are remnants of the House at Spijk (Hofgeesterweg 9), which was built at the beginning of the 18th century at the site of a medieval fortified house (demolished early 19th century).

This site with dry canals has two early 18th century masonry stanchions at the entrance. Commissioned by F.W.C.H. baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken and jkvr. M. Boreel built the farm 'Hofgeest' (Oostlaan 2) in 1899, consisting of a mid-century neo-Renaissance style house, a middle member and a shed. The Oostlandersluis is part of three locks in the 13th century Velserdijk east of Velserbroek. This lock was given the current form in 1770 and was renewed in 1829 (memorial stone). Nearby is the pumping station of the polder Velserbroek (at Oostbroekerweg 15), which was established in 1914 as a crude oil-coal with centrifugal pump (later replaced by an electric pumping station). The driver's house (Oostbroekerweg 15) at pumping station and lock is from 1915.
