The R.K. St. Cunerakerk in Nibbixwoud

betekenis & definitie

(Dorpsstraat 53) is a large basilical cross church with three-sided closed choir and a high tower of four sections with balustrade (with corner spinning) and eight-sided needle spire. This neo-Gothic church was erected in 1875-'77 to a design by A.C. Bleijs to replace a church from 1840. In the tower inspired by Tepe's work there is a Petit & amp; Fritsen cast clock (1876). The church, restored in 1996, contains a Neo-Gothic Smits organ (1886) and a modern main altar (1956).

Outside the church is the (displaced) tombstone of Father Johannes Ubius († 1635).

In the cemetery there is also a hard stone cross (1875) and before that the grave of pastor C. van Berckel († 1904).
