The polder house Wieringerwaard in Wieringerwaard

betekenis & definitie

(North Zijperweg 35) is a farmhouse with a high basement corner extension with ornamental lawn. This building, built in 1611-'12 and occupied by a 'casteleyn', was rebuilt in 1681 (frontage) and around 1750 (framed entrance lot). The cabinet wall with Louis XV details and the tiled chimney with smolder in the upstairs room of the extension are also from that period. That room served as a meeting place for the municipal and polder board. The building was restored in 1951-'52 (C.W. Royaards) and has been used as a residence since 1990.
