The Oude and Nieuwe Haven in Naarden

betekenis & definitie

are the remainder of the 16th century moat. Between the two port sections there is a lock, which probably replaced a wooden lock at the beginning of the 17th century. On the north-east side of the Oude Haven is the Zeebrug, a partially overgrown dam lock. It is one of the oldest parts of the fortress, given the stone with fetch ring and year '1632' in the wall under the vault. In 1789 (keystone) the southern half of the passage was bridged with a barrel vault. The Sluisbrug is located across the harbor and the east side of the lock. This presumably early 17th-century high masonry arch bridge was restored in 1779 (stone) and renewed in 1967.
