The Herv church in Zunderdorp

betekenis & definitie

(Achterlaan 12) is a plastered hall church, equipped with a tower of three sections with balustrade and tent roof. The late Gothic tower, constructed with natural stone corner blocks, was erected in the second half of the 15th century. The current church was established in 1711 after a fire (1710) and was rebuilt in 1824. Around 1860, a square placed conservatory room was added and possibly the church was plastered. The interior is covered by a wooden barrel vault with draw beams and contains a 17th century pulpit and doophek. After 1711 the choir section that has not been rebuilt has been put into use as a cemetery. The single-layer neoclassical presbytery (Achterlaan 10) from 1877 was designed by T.C. van der Sterr.
