The Herv church in Venhuizen

betekenis & definitie

(Kerkweg 113), originally dedicated to St. Emerentia, is a single-nave cross church with five-sided closed choir and a half-built tower of three sections. The ship was established shortly before 1500, in the early 16th century followed by the late Gothic choir and transept. In 1875 the ship was shortened and a new tower was built to design by T.C. van der Sterr. The church was restored in 1968-'75 and rebuilt after a devastating fire (2003) in 2004-'05 (W. Schagen).
