The Herv church in Schagen

betekenis & definitie

(Markt 23a) is a wide church with low-rise, three-sided closed transept and a choir section containing a catechism and consistory room.

The tower has two sections, a balustrade and an eight-sided spire with an openwork lantern with carillon. After the old church from 1460 was destroyed by fire in 1895, this Neo-Renaissance church with neo-Gothic details (window tracings) was created in 1895-'97 after design by J.A.G. van der Steur. The church was half a turn when it was rebuilt. The church, which was restored in 1978, contains a Van Dam organ (1900).
