The Herv church in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel

betekenis & definitie

(Kerkstraat 11) is a stately church with a square bell tower, blocked corner axes, truncated gables and a map in the form of a Greek cross. To replace a 13th century church, this church was built in 1773-'75 by Jan Smit and Andries Westerhuysen to a design in Louis XVI forms by Jacob Eduard de Witte.

The interior is covered by wooden barrel vaults. The inventory includes a pulpit and a gentlemen's bank from the construction period. The organ (1865) was built by P. Flaes. The presbytery (Kerkstraat 20), a block-shaped building with blocked corner avenues, arose in 1894 and has a teahouse from the same period. The nearby club building dates from 1957.
