The Herv church in Laren

betekenis & definitie

(Naarderstraat 5), originally dedicated to St. John, is a one-aisled church with a tower of two sections and a third eight-sided section with a circle and a spire. The tower dates from around 1500, the church from 1521 (restored 1618). The choir was demolished in 1817. In 1917, the eight-sided tower section was completely renovated externally. The ship was de-plastered and rejuvenated at a restoration in 1927-'28 (H. Onnes). The last restoration dates from 1995.

The interior is covered by a wooden barrel vault with draw beams. The inventory includes a doophek (1672) and a pulpit (circa 1672).
