The Herv church in Kolhorn

betekenis & definitie

(Kerkepad 3) is a single-nave church with three-sided closed choir and a slender tower of three sections with wooden balustrade and needle spire. This intentionally 15th-century church received a northern transept in 1648. After the church was burned out in 1788, the restoration followed in 1791-92.

The presumably mid-19th century tower contains a clock (1418), which was cast by Willem Butendiic, and got the current peak around 1910. The consistory room dates from 1899. The inventory of this church, which was restored in 1975, includes a ship model (1782) and a copper baptismal arch and baptismal basin (1792). The organ dating from circa 1725 was rebuilt in 1810 (J.M. Gerstenhauer) and at the transfer of the Luth. church in Purmerend to Kolhorn (1892).
