The former town hall in Zaandam

betekenis & definitie

(Castle 10-16) is a three-aisled, white-plastered neoclassical building, built in 1846-48, designed by W.A. Scholten as city hall annex canton district, Chamber of Commerce and police station. The middle ressault is crowned by a domed turret and has a hard stone sidewalk and terracotta decorations (vines, meanderfriezen) and a facing brick with the city coat of arms. As a town hall it was in use until 1974.
