Village, founded in 1931 on the east side of the Slootvaart as the first village in the Wieringermeer. This is done by M.J. Granpré Molière designed village was called Sluis I until 1941. The lock is located on the north side, followed by a shingle and industrial area. The triangular village map has a green area with shops (east side) and a church at both ends. The right-angled Kerkstraat leads to the third (Geref.) Church and a centrally located sports field. After the inundation in 1945, the reconstruction and completion of the original plan followed. All architecture is traditional in form.
