On a site that originally belonged to the 16th-century bleach shop Zorgvrij is the early-18th-century house Schoonoord (Hoofdstraat 268) that was rebuilt several times, among others in 1741 and 1794. On that last occasion the façade got the current view with a central party decorated with sculpture.

In 1859 G. Heshuysen had the then L-shaped building converted into a rectangular, two-aisled building. A form remains of the original bleaching buildings. blekersschuur (Hoofdstraat 270) from 1734 with truncated bell gables. Another part of the old bleacher came into the possession of J.P.A. van Wickevoort Crommelin, who here in 1837-'38 - probably as a service residence - the house Boschbeek (Wüstelaan 81) had to build to a design in early chalet style by J.D. Zocher jr. The stream at the bleaching fields was turned into a scenic water feature. The form. Buitenplaats Vlugthoven (Hoofdstraat 236) was founded at the beginning of the 19th century by J. Bondt. J.C. Enschedé, burgomaster van Velsen, had in 1871 rebuilt the house - originally two 18th century houses - into the current white-plastered two-storey country house.
