Kortenhoef (municipality of Wijdemeren)

betekenis & definitie

Long-drawn-out mining village, originated in the 12th century as cope-mining. The reclamation axis is formed by the Kortenhoefsedijk. As a result of wet peat, the nearby lake area was created from about 1450. From 1915, buildings have been built along Kerklaan, between the northern part of Kortenhoef and de-Gravelandsevaart. Around 1930 and after the Second World War the village was also expanded here.
