Jagtlust in 's-Graveland

betekenis & definitie

(Leeuwenlaan 42). Hendrik Otto Arntzenius had this country house built in 1792-'94, probably at the location of the 17th-century inn 'Groot Jan'. On behalf of Mr. W. Six, the house received a floor in eclectic forms in 1900 after plans by Th.G. Schill and D.H. Haverkamp. The large house has a three-sided bay window extension and a stair tower with bell-shaped roof.

The park has a landscaping from the first half of the 19th century. In it, a few late-18th century formal elements have been retained. The white plastered and thatched eight-sided tea dome dates from the beginning of the 19th century. Younger elements are the round dovecote (1862), with a battlement, and a cement, with pebbles inlaid, (1862). Apart from two grape greenhouses - one dated with the inscription 'AIB 1824', the other from the end of the 19th century - there is a late-19th century, centrally heated greenhouse (plastered). West of the house, on the forem. Buitenplaats 'Heilust', is a children's playhouse built by the sons of J. Six van Hillegom, led by carpenter M. de Haan (1910). There is also a 'hunebed' of stacked boulders (circa 1900). The form. service residence Leeuwenlaan 40 dates from around 1910.
