House Velserbeek in Velsen

betekenis & definitie

(Velserbeek 1). This originally 17th century country house was changed after 1699 by order of Hendrik Tersmitten and received the current view in 1781 for banker Johan Goll from Franckenstein. The plastered two-storey house with basement is accessible via a hard stone staircase. The projecting right wing was built at the beginning of the 19th century.

The early-landscaping of the park was established around 1780, possibly based on a design by Johan Georg Michael. After purchase by the municipality in 1924, changes were made to plans by L. A. Springer and followed by opening to the public. The park contains a late-18th century ornamental hermitage, a gin house (miniature farm house) and an eight-sided garden dome in the shape of a Chinese tent. There is also a 19th-century orangery (now a tearoom) and an eight-sided wooden music tent (1926).
