At the lock there were traditionally various inns and lodgings. De Gooise Boer (Herengracht 71), a deep building with capped façade, was converted in 1756 (façade) and was used as a café from 1810 onwards. An eighteenth-century appearance has the restaurant Graaf Floris V van Muiden (Herengracht 72), formerly called 'Het Hof van Holland', rebuilt after a fire in 1994. The restaurant De Doelen (Sluisstraat 2) was established in 1668 as a residence and from 1729 housed the inn 'De Nieuwe Doelen'. In 1812, the building was rebuilt in its current form with checkered corner raidals and middle ressault.
