Homes in Santpoort

betekenis & definitie

The double-walled main street, 240-242, dates back to the 18th century. The mansion, built in the early chalet style and white plastered main house 252, was established in 1860 with the use of demolition material from the Middeloo house in Driehuis. Chalet style elements also show the white plastered Middenganghuis terrace (Middenduinerweg 8, 1884). Late 19th century is the sober neoclassical mansion Hoofdstraat 187 (1892) and the neo-Renaissance villa Santvliet (Wüstelaan 90; 1897). The latter has a wooden coach house with stable (Wüstelaan 88; 1902, modified 1931).

From the early 20th century, the white-plastered block-shaped mansion Bosch en Duin (Burg Enschedélaan 32; 1901-'02), designed by J. Bruin, has battlements and arktorentjes. Now in use as a monastery is the part of the voorm. Spaarnberg estate built villa Maris Stella (Wüstelaan 59; 1906-'07), formerly 'Spaarnheuvel'. The design by J.G. and A.D.N. van Gendt exhibits influences of rationalism. P.J. Van Doorn designed the white plastered houses Wüstelaan 87-93 (1905), Molenstraat 7-11 and 12-14 (1906) and Molenstraat 13-25 (1911), all with decorative reliefs or decorations in clean masonry, or both. Similarly, the small villas are Middenduinerweg 2 (1902) and Shamrock (Middenduinerweg 10; 1903).

In collaboration with G.E. Small, H. Hama and H.J. Harms designed H.P. Berlage the L-shaped white plastered villa Vinkenbaan 14 (1911) with crossing flat roof. This experimental house was built according to the MCC-system (Monogram Construction Company), whereby the concrete was poured seamlessly with the help of a reusable cast-iron formwork. The concrete roof slabs, floor slabs and steps are also prefabricated.

In New Historical style the villa Transmare (Vinkenbaan 50; 1910) rose to plans by C.J.P. Beccari and the stepped gable party villa Vinkenbaan 16-18 (circa 1915) by J.W. Lassing and J.C. Putz. According to plans by J. Mulder and J.A. van Asdonk created the roughly plastered, butterfly-shaped villa Vinkenbaan 22 (1912) and also the Burg house, which was built in a New Historic style. Enschedélaan 36 (1916). The expressionist small country houses Haakon (Brederoodseweg 59) date from 1924 - as a studio house designed by Jac. Dekker - and Middenduinerweg 28 (A.M.J. Sevenhuijsen). The reed covered H-shaped mansion Wüstelaan 76 (1931) is by H.A.J. and J. Baanders designed as a gardener's house from the Spaarnberg country estate. H.M. van Dantzig had the functionalist house Syrinx (Harddraverslaan 60; 1959-'60) designed by G.Th. Rietveld. It has a garden district-like structure according to plans by Z.D.J.W. Gulden and M. Geldmaker established residential complex Brederoodseweg 2-52 / Duinweg 34-36 (1921) of the housing association Bloemendaal-Noord.
