Homes in Huizen

betekenis & definitie

The older buildings of Huizen consists mainly of detached deep houses. The house Boerensteeg 6 from around 1600 has a front house with a top façade, a side wing with stepped gable and a wooden back house. At the 17th century house Vissersstraat 84, old plaits show a widening and raising of the south façade. Also 17th century are Voorbaan 48 (extension with stepped gable), Melkweg 16 and Vissersstraat 42 (both with arches and horizontal toothings). Some houses were given an asymmetrical façade as a result of the arrangement of a weaving room - usually on the south side - with a higher rising façade and larger windows for more light. A good example of this is Vissersstraat 88-90 (18th century).

From the beginning of the 19th century, Voorbaan 32 dates with spout façade and neoclassical entrance picture. Examples of 19th-century fishermen's homes are Meentweg 32-34 (1875) and Melkweg 9 (circa 1890). Spruce façades and thatched roofs have the small houses Valkenaarstraat 18-20 (1875), Vletstraat 5 and Hellingstraat 15. The latter two also have an attached workshop. Younger examples of dwellings with a workshop are Engw eg 6-14 (1904). A continuous gable roof was given the blocks of fishermen's and / or laborers' houses Kronenburgerstraat 11-15 (circa 1850), Kon. Julianastraat 20-20a (1873), Hulweg 10-14 (circa 1870) and Hulweg 48-52 (circa 1880). The homes Zeeweg 32-44 (circa 1885) have been set up on an H-shaped plan. The back-to-back residences Kon. Julianastraat 23-35 (circa 1890) have a residential and retail building (circa 1905).

Examples of somewhat more spacious 19th-century houses are the buildings with Kerkstraat 3, 49-53 and Vissersstraat 17 (all around 1860). The Middenganghuis Havenstraat 18 (1864) has a plastered entrance rampal. At the doctor's residence Lindenlaan 79 (1885), the higher-lying middle ressault shows rich eclectic decorations. Neo-Renaissance elements are visible at Kerkstraat 45-47 (1878) and the Middenganghuizen Havenstraat 23 and 25 (both circa 1890) with higher rises in the middle ressault. The double fisherman's house Vissersstraat 9b-9c (circa 1890) is equipped with ornamental masonry and characteristic elements such as hoisting hatches and lifting hooks. Gable tops in pseudo-timber framing has the double villa Lindenlaan 101-103 (circa 1903). The housing association 'Huizen' had plans to build workers' homes on the Eerste Woningbouwstraat and the Kon. Julianastraat (1915). The housing association 'De Haardstede' built housing law houses in the Bloemenbuurt (1922-'23 and 1926-'27). For senior staff of the 'Chemical Factory Naarden', the business-expressionist double houses Naarderstraat 302-304 and 306-308 were established in 1920 according to Th. Rueter and H.F. Sijmons.
