Farms in the Wieringermeer in Slootdorp

betekenis & definitie

In the new Wieringermeerpolder, a total of 476 farms were leased out between 1934 and 1942 (from west to east). In addition, there were 37 state farms. Shortly after 1930 they first built a number of reclamation barns, such as De Eerste (Slootweg 11). Initially they opted for a farm with central bag space and side entrance.

In the first types, the living and working areas came under one roof; types G and H with wolf end and type J with wooden top gable. The Kooltuinenweg 8 farm (1934) is an example of Type G, Ulkeweg 53 (1934) type H. With type M, the house extends slightly from the shed, see Molenweg 27 (1935). From 1935 arable farms with barn and adjoining living area (head-body type) were created for arable farming; from type O (size 15 ha.), T, S, R to the largest type Q (size 30 ha.). From 1936 onwards, asymmetrical, fully-walled laminated wooden three-hinged trusses were used, as well as concrete stable windows and system floors. The Molenweg 38 farm (1937) is a good example of type T, Landbouwstraat 15 (1935) type Q. For the mixed farm, there was a type U, for example Praamweg 10 (1936). Between 1939 and 1941 there were also some small farms with the residential and business areas under one roof, such as Noorderkwelweg 2 (1939), as well as larger head-rump farms, such as Noorderdijkweg 23, Oosterterpweg 1, Oosterkwelweg 1 and 11.
