Company buildings in Naarden

betekenis & definitie

In 1867 J.A. Bos a steam mill for the production of jute coffee bags. This was established in the complex Kooltjesbuurt 9-13. The two-storey shallow front building dates from around 1872 and contained the passageways to the underlying factory halls and the office warehouse (floor).

From 1877 to 1949 the factory was in the hands of the Ministry of War, first as artillery warehouse and from 1888 as clothing and weapons warehouse. The complex, which was restored in 1994, now has an office location. From the form. N.V. Gooische Beetwortel sugar factory (Huizerstraatweg 28), some buildings remain. This factory was built in 1872 on behalf of J.P. Dudok van Heel and closed in 1902, to be continued as Chemical Factory 'Naarden', known for the production of flavors and fragrances. From the form. cigarette factory 'Palazzo' (Comeniuslaan 10) the office area has the appearance of a mosque with horseshoe arches, domes, battlements and half moons. For the cigar manufacturer

A.J. Weurman came to the factory in 1915 in Moorish style to plan J.P.W. Breling. The form. grain gallery (Amsterdamsestraatweg 63-65), a high L-shaped building of the cooperative 'Ons Belang', arose in 1919 in expressionist style to a design by G.J. Fox.
